Trek leaves Amazon Prime. Is Netflix next?

Fans of Star Trek who are also Amazon Prime subscribers may have noticed that a countdown to departure has appeared alongside the various Trek series. The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise all show text that reads "Leaves Prime in xx days." The counter will reach zero on February 15, at which time this content will no longer be available on the Amazon Prime platform. This has caused a bit of a stir and cries of distress from many fans who rely on streaming to get their Trek. We share our thoughts on what the change may mean for the future of streaming Star Trek.

Liberia issues stamps from the 22nd century.

Recently we talked about DS9 stamps from Palau and Guyana and upcoming designs from the U.S. Postal Service. When it comes to stamps, TOS and DS9 are givens, as are TNG and Voyager. But what we’ve never seen before are stamps featuring Enterprise. Well, Liberia wants to change that with a sheet featuring the aliens of Enterprise. We take a look at the seven designs.

In today’s world of cloud storage and device syncing, it’s hard to imagine that something we wrote could get locked away in a format no one can read. But technology wasn’t always so standardized. When Gene Roddenberry moved from his famous typewriter to a pair of custom-built computers with custom operating systems, the future of the notes and stories he wrote became precarious. In fact, they were lost for decades. Now, thanks to a company called DriveSavers, that data has been recovered. We take a look at this fascinating story.

We take a moment to remember another of the Star Trek family who we've lost, prolific character actor Jason Wingreen, who played Dr. Linke in the third-season TOS episode “The Empath.” Wingreen was also the voice of Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back, and appeared in episodes are countless TV shows between 1955 and 1994. He was truly everywhere.
